On September 1, 2022, digital nomads can now apply for the new long-term resident (LTR) visa. Details below.<\/span><\/p><h2>What are the benefits?<\/h2><p>The LTR visa makes living and working in Thailand easier than many other visa options. Here are some of the main benefits:\u00a0<\/p><ul><li aria-level=\"1\"><b>10 year visa<\/b>: The visa is renewable and acts as a multi-entry visa (no need to get reentry permits).<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Once-a-year reporting<\/b>: Report to immigration once a year, instead of every 90 days.\u00a0<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Digital work permit<\/b>: Have the freedom to work in Thailand without having to be employed at a local company.\u00a0<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Airport Fast Track Service: <\/b>Use the premium lane to go through immigration and save time.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><h2>Do you qualify?<\/h2><p>The LTR visa qualifications vary depending on the category you&#8217;re applying under. Digital nomads fall under the Work-from-Thailand Professionals category and must meet the following requirements:<\/p><ul><li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Income<\/b>: Earn a minimum of $80,000 a year for the past two years before you apply. Alternatively, if your income is between $40,000-$80,000 for two years, you can qualify if you have either a Master\u2019s degree or higher, own intellectual property, or have received series A funding.\u00a0<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Employment<\/b>: Currently employed by a public company listed on the stock exchange or a private company that has been in operation for at least three years and has earned a minimum of $150 million within that period.\u00a0<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Work experience<\/b>: A minimum of 5 years of work experience in your field over the past 10 years.<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Health insurance<\/b>: A minimum of $50,000 coverage; or social security benefits that cover treatment and hospitalization in Thailand; or $100,000 in your bank account for 12 months.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><h2>How to get approved?\u00a0<\/h2><p>The approval process requires four steps that will take about two to three months to complete:\u00a0<\/p><ol><li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Submit online application<\/b>: Along with supporting documents, which at this point are still unclear but will require evidence of employment, health insurance, etc. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/btisolutions.co\/th\/contact-us\/\">\u0e15\u0e34\u0e14\u0e15\u0e48\u0e2d\u0e40\u0e23\u0e32\u0e17\u0e35\u0e48\u0e19\u0e35\u0e48<\/a><\/span> to learn exactly which documents you\u2019ll need.<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Receive endorsement letter<\/b>: As long as you qualify, you should receive one within 20 working days after you submit your online application.\u00a0<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Apply at Thai government office<\/b>: Within 60 days after you\u2019ve received your endorsement letter, apply for the visa at a Thailand embassy or consulate, or at a local immigration office if you\u2019re in Thailand.\u00a0<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Get a digital work permit<\/b>: Once you\u2019re in Thailand, pick up your work permit at Bangkok\u2019s One Stop Service Center for Visa and Work Permit or at a provincial labor office if you\u2019re outside the capital.\u00a0<\/li><\/ol><p>While requirements for the LTR visa are still changing, Baan Thai is connected with various government bodies in Thailand and can provide you with the latest updates.
